NORFOLK – Coming off a 4-1 victory in Game 1, Columbus sealed off another victory to sweep their rivals in a double header.
The Discoverers carried over the momentum from the win in game one, and scored 3 runs on the top of the opening inning. Norfolk put 1 run across in the bottom of the 1st, but neither team would score again until the 4th.
CHS scored 1 run in the top of the fourth, before giving up 2 runs in the bottom making the game 5-3 heading into the 5th.
Columbus added some cushion in the top of the 5th and the top of 6th, scoring one run in each inning. The Panthers got back on the board in the 6th scoring one run, and would trail by 2 heading into the final inning.
Columbus and Norfolk would stalemate in the final inning, with neither team allowing any scores, and CHS would go on to win 6-4.
Jarod Nitz hit 2 RBI in the match, while Tyler Palmer, Alex Uhlig, and Trevor Kaslon each added 1. Kaslon and Palmer each notched two hits.
Jacob Morse pitched one strikeout after taking the mound in the 7th, while Kaslon had 3 strikeouts in 6 innings pitched and was awarded the win.
CHS improves to 7-2 on the season. Their game schedule for Saturday at Seward has been cancelled due to impending weather.
