KEARNEY – The Columbus High girls tennis team took 6th place at the Kearney Doubles Invite on Thursday.
#1 doubles team, Regi Zakrzewski and Sara Kruse picked up wins in their 2nd and 3rd match, downing teams from Fremont and North Platte. They went 2-3 on the day and finished in 6th place.
#2 doubles team, Monykka Hazlitt and Mia Janssen, also went 2-3 and finished 6th, defeating teams from Fremont and Omaha Westside in their opening to matches.
The #3 doubles team of Lauren Benck and Aspen Luebbe finished in 8th place, with their lone win on the day coming against North Platte in match number 4.
The #4 doubles team finished the highest going 3-2 and taking 5th place. The doubles team was compromised of two different pairs, Emily Mikcsh and Emma Benck who won two matches, as well as Anna Swope and Melanie Jones who won 1 match.
The team finished in 6th place with 47 points.
