CENTRAL CITY – The Columbus Lakeview softball squad, dropped won game, but one the other in to local match-ups.
Columbus Lakeview played a tough match with David City Aquinas, but a late start on the bats, would prove to be their demise. Aquinas was able to score 2 runs in both the 3rd and 5th inning, scoring 1 in the 6th, but it would take Lakeview until inning 7, to score their 3 runs. Aquinas came away with the win 5-3.
“The girls played fantastic defense. Unfortunately against Aquinas, they were hitting the holes and we weren’t. We got our bats going too late in the game and couldn’t come all the way back. Overall it was a great day though,” says Lakeview Head Coach Erica Zywiec.
The Viqueens also paired off in a tough match with Schuyler, and the bats were strong for Lakeview from start to finish. Lakeview scored multiple runs in three innings, starting off strong with 4 runs in the 1st, 3 runs in the 3rd ,1 in the 5th, and 2 runs in the 6th. Schuyler scored 1 run in both the 1st and 3rd inning, but were unable to keep up with Lakeview.
