North Bend Edges Aquinas to Advance to District Final

COLUMBUS, Neb. – North Bend’s defense held steady in the final seconds as Aquinas missed what would have been a game winner, giving the Tigers a subdistrict finals victory.

North Bend Central defeated Aquinas Catholic 59-57 in the Class C1 subdistrict final game at Columbus High.

The Monarchs had a shot at the end, but Zach Zavodny’s shot came up short and North Bend could hang on from there.

John Emanuel led the way for North Bend with 24 points and four three-pointers. Austin Endorf also had four-pointers, scoring 13 total. Tanner Wietfield scored 16 points for the Tigers.

Tyler Vavrina scored 24 points for Aquinas, including five three-pointers, in the loss.

North Bend Central will now play the winner of Friday’s Lincoln Christian-Milford game, in the district final next week.
