LINCOLN, Neb. – After three years of falling short in semifinals, the Riverside Chargers prevailed in them on Friday night.
Riverside beat Mullen 66-59 at Bob Devaney Sports Center in the Class D2 state tournament to advance to the championship game.
Mullen, the defending champs who beat Riverside last year in the semifinals, was up one after the first half, but Tredyn Prososki of Riverside got hot in the 3rd quarter, scoring eight points and 22 in the game.
Joe Bloom, who had 19 points, had a dunk late in the 4th quarter that swung the momentum to the Chargers.
Riverside has fallen in the last three semifinals, and Coach Joe Imus has lost four in a row, including a year with Spalding in 2014.
The Chargers will face Falls City Sacred Heart at Pinnacle Bank Arena at 8:45 p.m. Saturday.
