COLUMBUS – The recommendation of a property annexation failed due to a tie vote at the Columbus Planning Commission meeting on Monday.
The properties under consideration for annexation include the Country Club Shores Subdivision north of Lost Creek Parkway, as well as the North 33rd Avenue Business Plaza. The proposed annexation would extend the services of the City of Columbus to the designated properties.
If the annexation were to be passed, some changes in the area would be that policing would be provided by the City of Columbus instead of the Platte County Sheriff’s Department, and the area would be served by Columbus Public Schools as opposed to Lakeview Community Schools. The annexation will be brought before the Columbus City Council in a public hearing on Monday July 16th.
