Bank Proposes Debit Card Use of Beatrice Public School’s Logo

BEATRICE – A local bank will be working with the Beatrice School System to offer customers an Orangemen logo on their bank debit cards.

Security First Bank will pitch in $5 to the district for every debit card issued with the school insignia.

Verdella Vetrovsky of Security First Bank says the project is modeled after a similar one begun in other communities, primarily western Nebraska, where Security First Bank has a presence.

The bank approached the Beatrice School District with the idea, which Finance Director John Brazell says should help promote the district, foster private-public partnership and provide some financial support for the schools.

Brazell says at least one district in Nebraska receives about $5,000 annually through its debit card program with Security First Bank.

Beatrice School Board President Lisa Pieper asked whether the district has a policy on branding, or how the district’s logo is used.

Pieper added, however, she has no problem with the bank’s project for the debit card.
