BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested two people yesterday afternoon, when they went to a residence searching for a female who had an active warrant.
Lieutenant Jay Murphy says police went to the one thousand block of Scott Street at around 1:15 p.m., knocked on a door, and told the female about the warrant. Police were granted permission to search the residence, and allegedly found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a white substance that field tested as cocaine. Police also located a rolled up $20 bill that had suspected cocaine on it.
The woman allegedly told police the cocaine was brought to her by a man she had met online. Police also found him at the scene, along with a handgun that was in a purple-colored bag, in one of the rooms.
Police arrested 33-year-old Heather Lucas, of Beatrice, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They also arrested 63-year-old Michael Jefferson, of Lincoln, on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, drug possession, possession of a firearm in the commission of the felony, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
