COLUMBUS – The Columbus Community Hospital’s cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program has been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems, which includes those who have had heart attacks and coronary artery bypass graft surgery. People with pulmonary problems, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, are also helped through the programs.
The programs help patients recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both of the programs include exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.
The certification process from the AACVPR required an extensive review of the program’s practices. AACVPR program certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed by AACVPR.
AACVPR-certified programs are seen as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation due to offering the most advanced practices available. The program certification is valid for three years.
