CCH Nurse Earns “40 Under 40” Leadership Award

COLUMBUS – Samantha Lozos of Columbus Community Hospital has been named to the Nebraska Action Coalition’s “40 Under 40” list.

The “40 Under 40” list celebrates nurses that the NAC organization believes are the future of nursing, health, and health care in Nebraska. Lozos was recognized for her unique contributions to leadership within the nursing profession through: clinical practice, education and teaching, administrative leadership, research, writing/publishing, policy involvement/self-governance, mentoring, and/or health care innovation.

Lozos started her career at CCH in October 2009 as a licensed practical nurse in the skilled nursing unit. In May 2010, she transferred to the acute care unit and by July 2010, she had passed her registered nursing boards. Lozos was transferred to the emergency department (ED) in November 2011 and by December 2014, she became the department’s service line coordinator. In May 2017, Lozos received her bachelor of science in nursing and became the hospital’s stroke coordinator. In November, she transitioned into her current position as the ED’s trauma coordinator.

Lozos is the fourth CCH honoree to be named to the list, joining Nicole Blaser and Shane Fleming in 2012, and Julie Vance in 2014. An awards celebration for this year’s honorees will be held on November 2 at the Graduate Hotel in Lincoln.
