COLUMBUS – A new athletic training partnership has been started between Schuyler Community Schools and Columbus Community Hospital.
The partnership will provide expanded athletic training services from CCH to the school district. The hospital has provided athletic training outreach services to Schuyler for a number of years, but now a CCH athletic trainer will service the district on a full-time basis.
The new full-time athletic trainer will primarily serve Schuyler Central High School, which offers 14 varsity sports programs, all of which have junior varsity programs. The trainer will also work with the school district’s middle school, as well as the district’s rural junior high students.
SCS activities director Jim Kasik says that he’s excited about adding this new service for Schuyler’s student athletes.
“This is a service that our community and our school really needed,” he said. “I just appreciate Columbus Community Hospital stepping up and providing this service to our district. We’re excited about the possibilities of this and I think it will be a great partnership that all of our students and their parents will benefit from.”
