YANKTON- The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office says the body of 59-year-old Phyllis Hunhoff was found in a rural area of the Santee Sioux Reservation in Knox County. A source close to the family says that a hunter discovered Hunhoff’s car around 5:00 PM Wednesday.
She was last seen leaving her mother’s residence around 10 PM Sunday night. She did not make it home that night and did not report to work the next morning and that’s what had her many friends, family, and co-workers concerned.
Family members say that Hunhoff was dedicated to her work, family, and friends. She worked at the bank for many years. “Phyllis was a kind and considerate person who would never hurt a soul, I think we all loved Phyllis,” said First National Bank Market President, Jeff Jones.
She cared for her parents and tended to their farmyard. Hunhoff also played choir for the church half a mile from the farm.
The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, FBI, and Santee Tribal Police are all investigating.
