COLUMBUS – Columbus saw it’s 30th Annual Can Care-A-Van on Tuesday, in an effort to raise money for the Platte County Food Pantry.
The Platte County Food Pantry teamed up with 10/11 News out of Lincoln, in order to host the annual event.
Executive Director Jackson Moore says they were accepting food, paper products, cash, and anything else that local community members could afford to donate.
This is Moore’s first year hosting the Can Care-A-Van as the Platte County Food Pantry Executive Director, and he says it has been a unique experience.
“The last couple of weeks have been a little stressful, trying to keep track of everybody, but it’s been great. The community, industrial places, local people here have been; generous, helpful, kind, you name it, it’s been awesome,” says Moore.
The Can Care-A-Van went from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, and Moore says the turn out for support was fantastic throughout the day.
