COLUMBUS – A Columbus man was jailed for possession of a controlled substance, as well as being in possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Columbus Police Department reports the arrest occurred on the afternoon of September 10. A police officer identified 27-year-old Joshua Knight in the parking lot at 220 23rd Street, who had an outstanding arrest warrant in Platte County.

Knight entered into a vehicle with 41-year-old Brandy Wolford, and the two headed westbound on 23rd Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the 2200 block of 23rd street, and discovered a backpack containing a digital scale, multiple syringes, baggies, a spoon with cotton, and a white crystal substance.

A field test of the crystal substance showed a positive result for methamphetamine, which Knight admitted to when speaking with the officer. Knight was cited for possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Walford was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, and having alcohol in an open container.

Knight will appear in the Platte County Court for a hearing on September 27 at 8:30 AM.
