Cops and Bobbers Special Edition Hits Pawnee Park Thursday

COLUMBUS – The Annual Cops and Bobbers Special Edition hit Pawnee Park on Thursday, with local kids, officers, and deputies all in attendance, says CPD Officer Jeff Uhl.

Uhl says this event is held in addition to the Cops and Bobbers event that was held at the west shelter this past Saturday.

“This is what we call the special edition. This is when we have the kids from the special needs class from the middle school and the high school come out, and we do a special cops and bobbers just with them. The teachers come and the paras. It’s a good time,” says Uhl.

Thursday’s event was held at the east shelter at Pawnee Park, where kids used worms, corn, and other bait to try and snag a big catch. Uhl says this is the third time they have held the event, and says the officers look forward to the event every year.

“It exposes the officers to kids with special needs, and gives us a sense of what they deal with everyday, and how things are for them. It gives us some empathy you know,” says Uhl.

The event ran from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday.
