Cordova fire victims identified

CORDOVA, NE (1011NOW) – The Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office has identified the four people killed in a house fire Saturday morning in Cordova.

They are Crystal Vickrey, 39; Tiara Schwab, 20; Brittney Newsome, 19; and Kaden Newsome, 12.

Fire crews from Cordova and surrounding communities responded to reports of a fire at about 7:30 a.m. and found the house fully engulfed with smoke and flames. Six people were in the home at the time of the fire and two were able to escape, according to authorities.

Brittney Newsome, a graduate of Friend High School, was a freshman at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where she was a member of the marching band, according to a UNK spokesman.
