BEATRICE – Five people were injured and one of the drivers has been arrested, in a collision last night at West Court and Sumner, in Beatrice.
A witness following a van told police that a southbound truck traveling at a high rate of speed ran a stop sign, colliding with the westbound Dodge minivan. The collision sent the van onto a yard, on the southwest corner of the intersection, while the Ford pickup ended up on the roadway, facing northwest.
The driver of the van, 32-year-old Lutricia Leuty, of Beatrice, and a front passenger, 36-year-old Eric Leuty had chest or neck injuries. Police say one of three children seated in the third row of the vehicle had cuts to his face, from broken glass. He is age 12. All five occupants of the van were taken to Beatrice Community Hospital. Hamm was not injured.
Both the pickup and van were towed from the scene of the 10:37 p.m. collision.
