Fremont Area Community Foundation Hosts Local Day of Giving

FREMONT – The Fremont area will celebrate its first-ever Fremont Area Big Give on May 9th, hosted by the Fremont Area Community Foundation.

The Fremont Area Big Give (FABG) is a one-day online fundraising event organized by the Fremont Area Community Foundation to raise support for nonprofits in Fremont and the Greater Dodge County Area. It is a community-wide event to show off the area’s spirit of giving and raise awareness about the nonprofits serving our communities every day.

“Giving Days are becoming wonderfully popular around the country, spurred by caring communities and fueled by great emerging technology,” said Melissa Diers, Executive Director of the Fremont Area Community Foundation. “Nearby cities like Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island have held successful local giving days for years. We think it’s time the Fremont area has a chance to demonstrate its generosity and commitment to community.”

With a minimum gift of only $10, everyone is invited to participate in the Fremont Area Gig Give, says Diers. Gifts can made online at www.FremontAreaBigGive.org from midnight to midnight on May 9th. Gifts can also be scheduled in advance beginning at 12:01 a.m. on May 1st through midnight on May 8th on the website.

“The Fremont Area Big Give was created to showcase the work of area nonprofits and celebrate the collective effort it takes to make the Fremont area great,” said Diers. “Everyone is encouraged to join in on May 9th to give together.”

Forty-four area nonprofit organizations are participating in the Fremont Area Big Give, and each will receive a portion of Bonus Pool dollars provided by First State Bank & Trust Company, Fremont Beef Company and Pinnacle Bank.

“We are excited to support the Fremont Area Big Give because, as Fremont’s only locally-owned bank, we feel it’s a unique opportunity to invest in the good work being done by so many nonprofit organizations in our service area,” said Chuck Johannsen, president of First State Bank & Trust Company. “It’s a day to celebrate service and the wonderful community we share.”

In addition to the Bonus Pool, participating nonprofits will have a chance to earn participation prizes throughout the 24-hour Fremont Area Big Give.
