Grip that steering wheel, anchor your trash cans and hold onto your hat.
Strong winds will sweep through eastern Nebraska, Iowa and most of the north-central U.S. Monday evening into Tuesday evening.
Northwest winds gusting to 45 mph or higher are forecast, so north-south drivers in exposed areas will need to maintain a good grip on the steering wheel, the National Weather Service advises.
In eastern Nebraska, the strongest winds are forecast Monday night and Tuesday late morning and afternoon. So if your trash collection occurs Tuesday, you might be better waiting until early morning to set it out.
The wind heralds an arriving cold front, so expect temperatures on Wednesday to top out in the mid-30s. Conditions warm up again later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
