Iowa Man Arrested and Charged for 8 Offenses in Fremont

FREMONT – An Iowa man was arrested and charged for eight offenses in Fremont.

According to Lt. Ed Watts with the Fremont Police Department, on Monday at 1:45 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 23rd and Colorado Streets after observing a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit and being driven in an erratic manner. Contact was made with the driver, identified as 29-year-old Adam Ramos-Aguilar of Council Bluffs, Iowa. An investigation showed Ramos-Aguilar had no operator’s license, and showed signs of impairment consistent with consuming alcoholic beverages.

Ramos-Aguilar refused to cooperate with officers during the DUI investigation. As a result, he was arrested and charged with Obstructing an Officer, Driving Under the Influence, Refusal to Submit to a Preliminary Breath Test, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, Reckless Driving, No Operator’s License, Excessive Speed, and No Valid Vehicle Registration.

At 2:45 a.m. officers observed an occupied vehicle sitting in the parking lot of a church located in the 1300 block of N. L Street. Contact was made with the occupant, who was identified as 18-year-old Michaela M. Johnson of Omaha. Lt. Watts says Johnson consented to having her vehicle searched, and during the search marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found. It was also learned that Johnson had an outstanding arrest warrant for her arrest in Douglas County. Johnson was arrested for the warrant and was additionally charged with Possession of Drugs and Narcotics second offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Also on Monday at approximately 7:40 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted after officers witnessed a vehicle violate a stop sign and nearly cause a traffic accident around the intersection of Cuming and Bell Streets. Contact was made with the driver, Tyler M. Ziegler a 21-year-old man from Omaha. During the traffic stop it was discovered Ziegler had a revoked license and he had three active warrants for his arrest out of Douglas County. He was placed under arrest for the warrants and was also charged with Possession of Marijuana less than an ounce, Driving During Revocation, and Careless Driving.
