COLUMBUS- In collaboration with Black Hills Energy, State Farm Insurance recently organized a hat, glove, and socks drive to help individuals stay a bit warmer this winter.
Individuals can drop off donations Monday through Friday at 3220 19th St. which is the State Farm in Columbus. The drive will benefit 6 organizations including: Center for survivors, Columbus Rescue Mission, Youth for Christ, Simon house, Comfort Closet, and Local Schools.
Organizer of ‘Jam the Van’ Annette Alt says volunteerism is important to her. “My mission in everything that I do, that my family does , that my team does, is giving back to the community. I was born and raised here and I really love this community. I just want to make sure that we are warming people up this winter. We just want to put smiles on people’s faces,” said Alt.
The ‘Jam the Van’ drive will take place November 16th from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM in the parking lot of State Farm. They will be loading the van with all of the items collected. Organizers are asking that the donations be new. Used hats, gloves, and socks will not be accepted.
