COLUMBUS – Columbus High saw two of their athletes sign letters of intent on Wednesday afternoon as both Rachel Klatt and Nick Balerud signed to their respective colleges.
Klatt will be attending the University of Sioux Falls next year and will be playing tennis for the Cougars.
For Klatt, all it took was one visit to campus before she knew that Sioux Falls was for her.
“I really liked the coach, he was really friendly when I talked to him, and when I went on a visit for campus. I knew one of my friends there that had signed last year, and she showed me around a little bit, they all welcomed me and I knew it was the place for me,” said Klatt.
For Nick Balerud, he’ll be running track next season down at Kearney. He is very excited to begin his collegiate career.
“I’d say just the fun I’m going to have with my teammates there. On my college visit there, I had a lot of fun with them and the team really resonated with me. I think I’m just really going to enjoy that a lot,” said Balerud.
Wednesday marked the celebration of two accomplished Columbus athletes, and offered an opportunity for friends and family to wish them well in their future collegiate careers.
