COLUMBUS – The Platte County “Click it or Ticket” Campaign begins on Monday.
Extra enforcement will be out between May 21st and June 3rd, says a press release from the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office say the extra enforcement will be concentrated in areas with high traffic through out the Memorial Day Weekend.
“In 2017, the overall rate of seatbelt usage for drivers and front seat passengers was 86%. This enforcement effort is to reach those remaining unbuckled drivers, passengers and children,” says the release.
Last year, 122 of the 171 fatal accidents involved passengers not wearing seat belts says the sheriff’s office.
Funding for the enfacement is provided by the Nebraska Office for Highway Safety.
