SCHUYLER – It is time to move on and move forward for former Schuyler City Council Member David Johnson.
On item 19 Johnson gave his speech and resigned from his 2nd Ward Council Member Vacancy on Tuesday.
“It was a difficult decision. I did not want to resign from city council. Unfortunately just due to the fact that we’re moving out of my district zone that I’m representing, the rules state I can’t be on the city council otherwise I would still be here the next year and a half,” Johnson explained.
With Johnson’s busy council schedule the past years, his children support his choice and are excited for the move.
“And he will be able to spend more time with us because he’s been on the city council since I was little,” Johnson’s son Dillon Johnson shared.
Johnson said he looks forward to being able to spend more time with his family while his two sons are growing up but he hopes his council duties have taught his sons one thing.
“I guess I hope that my boys learn that they need to be leaders and that they need to be involved in the communities they that they live in the future as they grow,” Johnson said.
