Southeast Community College Buying Beatrice Business Campus Building

BEATRICE – Southeast Community College will be acquiring the Beatrice Business Campus Building, next to the local college campus.

The SCC Board of Governors Tuesday approved a property transfer agreement, an asset purchase agreement and lease termination, meeting on the Milford Campus.

College Vice President of Public Information Stu Osterthun says the college will pay $1.2 million to BBC Building, LLC. The Southeast Community College Foundation is donating nearly 50 acres of nearby property to the college.

Osterthun says one of the tenants in the building will get a six-month extension, with a lease ending in December.

Southeast will pay a lease termination fee to a second tenant, Rare Earth Salts, which also has property in north Beatrice near Beatrice Community Hospital.  The payment will end a long-term lease Rare Earth Salts had at the Business Campus building, through 2025.  SCC has until June of 2019, to make the lease termination payment.

Beatrice Campus President Bob Morgan says plans are to renovate the building for use in the SCC Agriculture Program.

In other action Tuesday, the SCC Board approved the bid of NGC Group to replace a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system on the Lincoln Campus of the college.  The bid totaled $1.51 million and was one of three bids received by the college.
