Special Olympians Take on Beatrice Police, in Saturday Basketball

BEATRICE – Special Olympics youth will tip-off, against Beatrice Police officers this Saturday, at the BHS O-Zone gym.

This is the third annual event, which started out as a scrimmage for the Special Olympics team, as they prepared for their season.

Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang says its’ a fun experience for the Special Olympians and police officers.  About a dozen police officers will be playing.  Lang says several more Special Olympics kids will be participating this year, with three halftime periods of play.  Special Olympians plan to wear their B-Strong Cook T-shirts, in honor of KWBE Sports Director Bryan Cook, who is undertaking his rehabilitation from a serious medical condition.
