STROMSBURG – The streets of Stromsburg are busy this weekend, as the town celebrates the 65th Annual Swedish Festival.
Festival Co-Planner Sharon Noyd says the event runs Friday through Sunday, with the parade and live music taking place Saturday night. Swedish flags, delicious food, and visitors from across the region come to enjoy weekends activities.
“There’s people that come from a long ways away, they plan this, so they can come home. And then there’s people of Swedish background who want to come and celebrate their roots,” says Noyd.
Noyd says it’s not only a fun event for the attendees, but it’s very beneficial for the community as a whole.
“I think it’s the best way we can sell ourselves to other people. We promote our community this way, we promote the ethnic background of Swedish. Alumni plan on coming back so you have a reunion going on all over the place, and it promotes the businesses and all the affiliated things around Stromsburg,” says Noyd.
