Two-Vehicle Accident Leaves One Dead; One In Critical Condition

POLK COUNTY – A two-vehicle accident in Polk County on November 2 left one man dead, and one in critical condition.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place around 7:20 PM at the intersection of 130 and R Roads. A 2001 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by James Gabel was northbound on R Road, and collided with a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe that was westbound on 130th Road, driven by Tyler Wildasin.

The pickup rolled onto its side in the north ditch, while the Tahoe left the roadway and came to rest in a corn field. Due to the accident, Gable was pronounced dead at the scene. Wildasin was transported by ambulance to Annie Jeffery Hospital, and then later air lifted to another medical facility.
