COLUMBUS – US 30 Speedway is now set to open on May 24th after almost not opening for the first time in 33 years.
Angey Johnson says the track was built in 1985 by her grandfather Duane “Abe” Lincoln, along with help from the entire family. Lincoln passed away in 1997, and family members kept the facility operating for the next several years, before selling it to family members Mari and Ron Melcher, says Johnson.
The pair continued to operate the race track for the next three years, and Johnson says the track did not have plans for races in 2018. Johnson says Mari sold the track to her brother, and an opening night has been scheduled for May 24th.
US 30 speedway is located along the southside of Highway 30, between Columbus and Duncan.
