YMCA Haunted Forest Back, More Scares Guaranteed

NORFOLK, NE — There’s a haunted forest off Highway 275, at least just for the weekend.

The Norfolk YMCA is hosting their second annual haunted forest rides at the Kiwanis Campgrounds Friday and Saturday.

‘Master-scarer’ Barb Preusker says this year you can expect some new scares.

The haunted evening will begin at Divots De Vent Center where participants will board the trolley and head into the forest where the real haunting will begin.

“We do have a graveyard again, but in a different area, it has a live coffin in it too. We are still looking for volunteers, especially to get into the coffin. People are little hesitant but we’ve made it nice and comfortable.”

New this year is a haunted walking path where people can decide if they want to walk the last part of the trip. But beware, the scares will be much closer, according to Preusker.

Preusker also says she does want to see more youth get involved next year.

“I really like to see it get into the schools, we can have drama club, that type of thing to come out…”

The YMCA is still looking for more volunteers to be vampires or zombies. Preusker says any volunteer help is welcomed.
