OMAHA – Columbus High’s top doubles team has made it to the second day of the state after a strong performance on Thursday.
Rachel Klatt and Regi Zakrzewski have qualified for the 5th/6th place consolation bracket after going 2-1 in #1 Doubles on the first day of the Class A State Tournament at the Harry & Gail Koch Family Tennis Center.
The duo swept their first two opponents, downing Omaha South’s Maria Alvarez and Melissa Martinez-Munoz 6-0, 6-0 in their first match, and then defeating Fremont’s Gabrielle Keaton and Elise Patchen 6-1, 6-1.
Klatt and Zakrzewski fell to second-seeded Morgan Eby and Spencer Roach of Papillon-La Vista 4-6, 0-6 in their third match of the day.
The Discoverer pair will face third-seeded Kate Dean and Sophie Miller of Lincoln Southeast on Friday.
