LINCOLN, NE — Tanner Wietfeld scored 16 points and the North Bend Central Tigers beat Adams Central 42-37 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The victory gives the Tigers (24-3) their first state tournament win since 1927.
North Bend Central dominated the first quarter. They held the Patriots (17-8) scoreless for over seven minutes and owned an 11-2 lead at the quarter break.
Adams Central found their footing in the second quarter. Haggan Hilgendorf scored seven points in the first half, most of it in the second quarter, and the Patriots trimmed their deficit to four at halftime.
The game came down to the final minutes and North Bend Central combined defense and free throw shooting to seal the win.
The Tigers will play Ogallala 10:45 AM at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Friday.
