SCHUYLER – One Schuyler Warrior qualified for the state tournament in Omaha on Saturday.
Edith Oliden will be representing her school in the 1,600-meter run.
The incoming sophomore placed in second place allowing her to qualify.
“At first I was kind of nervous I was like ‘maybe I’ll get fourth, maybe I won’t be able to place, I’ll be on place behind or something but when I actually finished I was pretty impressed I thought I did pretty good,” Oliden explained.
Oliden began running in seventh grade and said shortly after she realized she had the potential to become a good runner.
With the support of her parents, coach and family, the 15-year-old will step foot on the big stage and this is something she can not stop thinking about.
“I’m really excited to be the only one. I just feel really excited. I feel proud of myself, I feel like I’m making the school proud,” Oliden said. “Two nights ago I couldn’t even sleep because I was just thinking of that,” she added.
The meet will take place at Omaha Burke High School.
