Emily Sisson, who was a state champion runner at Omaha Marian and Millard North in the late 2000s, finished sixth at the London Marathon on Sunday in her marathon debut.

Sisson ran a time of 2:23.08, the fastest debut by an American on a record-eligible course.

Sisson finished strong as she moved up two places in the closing miles.

The winner of the women’s race was Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei, who ran 2:18.20.
