Gibbon man, 30, dies in crash west of Kearney

A 30-year-old man died and a teenager was injured in a two-vehicle crash on a highway about five miles east of Kearney, Nebraska.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred Friday around 4:50 p.m.

According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of a westbound 2003 Toyota Echo lost control of his vehicle, which crossed into the eastbound lane, colliding with a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver of Toyota, Ignacio Machado Rosario, 30, of Gibbon, Nebraska, died at the scene, officials said.

The driver of the pickup, a 17-year-old from Hastings, Nebraska, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney and was treated and released.

Weather and roadway conditions might have been contributing factors in the crash, authorities said.
