COLUMBUS – Lakeview posted some strong performances this weekend, as they hosted their home softball invitational.
Twin River took down Lakeview in a tough 6-5 match to start out the day. Twin River finished the tournament strong, taking second place overall, behind York.
Lakeview Head Coach Erica Zywiec says, ” We came out and played a great game against Twin River. This was a heartbreaker for us. The girls did a great job this game.”
Lakeview then faced off with Logan View, and LG’s offense proved to be too much for the Viqueens, eventually beating Lakeview 16-6.
Zywiec says, “We did not play good softball this game. We hit well but had way too many errors and it cost us the game.”
Lakeview then bounced back to win their final match by 10 runs, defeating Madison/Humphrey/Lindsay 15-5. Zywiec says, “we started slow but came out on top. This was a great game to get some of the younger girls some varsity playing time. ”
“We really need to focus and clean up our defense. We are losing games because we aren’t playing catch. It’s a simple fix but seems to keep us from finishing ball games. I’m optimistic for this week though. We are going to work hard on getting better on our off days,” says Zywiec.
